If there’s anything constant about cities, it’s change. In the city, raw commodities turn into money. Money turns into land and land to buildings. On and on it goes. Inevitably, city people change, too—sometimes as they wished to do and other times as they might never have predicted.

Successful cities are places that reflect the positive changes that people have worked to achieve there. Successful citizens are people who have worked to take advantage of the city’s power to transform their lives for the good. Capturing the dynamic of change, and using it for the betterment of people’s lives, is the challenge that awaits all citizens.

What are your thoughts about how citizens directly and indirectly effect change in their cities?
